We wanted to share an important update regarding the health of the children at Little Hearts.
Last week, one of the boys, Jeff, fell ill and tested positive for dengue fever. Because dengue can become serious very quickly, he had to be admitted to Hebron Hospital, where he remained under close medical care for almost eight days.
We are relieved and happy to share that Jeff is now back home with us, feeling much better and fully on the mend!
His recovery would not have been possible without the amazing care and kindness of Dr. Ethan Helm, Director of Hebron Hospital, Dr. Ly Ly Vatthana, and their wonderful medical team.
Most of all, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the Christian Health Service Corps (CHSC). CHSC is a global organization of Christian doctors, healthcare professionals, and health educators who serve communities with limited access to medical care.
Thanks to their financial support, Little Hearts did not have to pay anything for Jeff’s eight-day hospital stay. We are profoundly grateful for their generosity and compassion.
Sadly, right after Jeff’s recovery, another one of the boys, Bunrath, also fell sick with dengue fever. He is currently at the hospital in a delicate condition.
We are doing everything possible to ensure he receives the medical care he needs, and we are grateful that CHSC is supporting Bunrat during his stay, just as they did for Jeff. We are praying and hoping for a speedy recovery so he can return home soon.
As many of you know, it is currently dengue season in Cambodia. Because our facility is surrounded by lush trees and grass, our area is especially prone to mosquitoes.
To protect the children, our team is working constantly to keep our surroundings clean, clear standing water, and take all necessary precautions to prevent mosquito breeding.
