On September 5th, our hearts were filled with so much joy and gratitude! We had the privilege of hosting our friends from Maybank Cambodia for a special day of learning and giving back.
This beautiful day brought so much warmth and happiness to 120 kids—our Little Hearts children plus the kids from our local community—as well as 30 families from New Hope who received food supply packages. Maybank blessed us with 10 large sacks of rice (50 kg each), kitchen ingredients, cleaning supplies, and hands-on help to clean and plant new seeds in our vegetable garden.
The highlight of the day was an exciting, real-life learning activity for the children. First, the Maybank team taught the kids all about healthy eating and nutrition. Then, they set up a real mini-market! During a previous visit, Maybank had taught our kids about the importance of saving and the value of money by using play money and pictures.
But this time, they brought real items to trade: fruit, notebooks, and water bottles. The Maybankers acted as store sellers, while the kids used their play money to shop. They learned how to choose healthy fruits, decide what items to prioritize, and even had fun learning how to bargain! The kids—especially the community kids, who have little experience of handling money—were beaming with pride as they did their own shopping of fresh fruits and school supplies.
We are deeply grateful to Maybank’s CEO & Country Head, Rath Sophoan, COO Qazreen Chan Abdullah, and all the other staff members who spent the day with us. Your love, generosity, and presence mean a lot to Little Hearts. Support like this keeps our programs going and helps us care for our kids every day, and we humbly hope for many more wonderful moments together in the future.
The event also showcased how the help we receive from big-hearted sponsors like Maybank does not support Little Hearts only, but percolates consistently to the wider community through our public learning and welfare programs.
