Be Smart for Little Hearts (Quiz Night)

On 29 November 2025, the fourth edition of Little Hearts Quiz Night took place at Hangar 27 in Antwerp. It’s always a fun, lively event that brings together people who are keen to raise funds for Little Hearts.

Preparation

Every year we come up with new rounds and fresh questions, which means plenty of research beforehand. A presentation bundle is created for the presenters, containing all quiz questions. This task is taken on by Eric and Jo, Tony’s uncles.

We also prepare a full PowerPoint presentation containing all rounds and questions, which is shown to the audience on the night itself. The presentation is filled with fun visuals, photos, video clips, and even a few homemade short films to keep everyone entertained.

Creating the quiz also comes with quite a bit of paperwork. Each round gets its own answer sheet, and of course, the jury needs an answer key to correct everything quickly and accurately.

Then there is also Dimitri, who put in an impressive amount of work preparing the venue for our event.

Participants

Teams consist of 4 to 6 participants, and absolutely anyone can join: family, friends, colleagues, neighbors. The quiz is designed for all ages and tests general knowledge in a playful way. Both experienced and first-time quizzers are welcome. This year, 23 teams took part, enjoying an evening full of fun, challenge, and plenty of brain-teasing moments.

The Quiz

There were 10 rounds this year, each containing 10 questions. Topics included sports, games, music, language, history, current events, and film. The children from Little Hearts also rolled up their sleeves to create a wonderful themed round of their own, which is always a highlight.

One of the things that makes our quiz so much fun is the hands-on “DIY” round. This time teams had to cut fruits and veggies into two perfectly identical halves. Much harder than it sounds!

All answer sheets were meticulously corrected by our jury (Jan, Monique, and Gerrit) under the watchful eye of the jury president, Tinneke.

Once again, the quiz was a great success. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Participants especially appreciated getting a glimpse of life in Cambodia, made possible through the Little Hearts children’s round. The film round was another crowd favorite: 20 clips from classic movies starring the social-media sensation #OwlKitty. Guaranteed laughter.

Winners

In every Little Hearts Quiz, the top five teams win lovely prizes provided by our sponsors, such as fancy cookbooks or cases of champagne and wine. We also award a special prize to the 13th team, our so-called “lucky losers.” And of course, the team that finishes last doesn’t go home empty-handed. We make sure they receive a consolation prize.

This year’s winning team was “De ijsberen & de kachel”, who finished with an impressive score of 127 out of 160.

Thank you

We could not have hosted the quiz without the many helping hands of our amazing volunteers. We are truly grateful for their support and hard work! And a big thank you also to all the sponsors who donated prizes and food, and beverages.
